Written Safety Program Services
Assistance with the development and implementation of health and safety policies & programs such as; Injury & Illness Prevention, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Safety, Hearing Conservation, Personal Protective Equipment, and Heat Illness Prevention to name a few.
Training Services Respiratory Protection
On-site health & safety training either at the work site or a client's offices. We offer a number of health & safety training courses designed not only to meet regulatory requirements, but also to ensure that workers understand and comprehend the material covered. These training topics include, but are not limited to:
OSHA's Hazardous Communication Information and Training Act ( the Right-To-Know Law) requires that all employees be provided with ready access to important health and safety information regarding hazardous substances. The class covers an overview of the Employer Chemical Hazard Communication Standard, how to read and interpret MSDSs, labeling, and basic hazards of primary chemical groups.
Students will learn how to check a conscious and unconscious person, Basic CPR, choking and can include adult AED skills. Training also includes how to handle a variety of emergencies including a victim of shock, stoke, muscle injuries, heat & cold emergencies, severe bleeding, bites & stings, sudden illness and more.
Annual respirator safety training insures that safe practices and requirements for using the equipment are in compliance with OSHA regulations. Respirators protect workers from inhaling particulate matter, toxic gases and fumes they may encounter on the job. This training covers OSHA requirements, why respirators are needed, types of respirators, and proper care of respirators.
Respirator Fit-Testing (Quantitative & Qualitative)
Testing can be done with Respirator Protection training or without. Participants must be trained in proper use and medically cleared prior to fit-testing.
Fresh Air Respirator Training
Training includes Respirator Protection training as described above and adds specific Air-Supplied Respirator training. Also including hands-on air-line respirator and a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is needed for many work procedures. Some examples of commonly used PPE are respirators, ear plugs, earmuffs, leather gloves, nitrile-coated gloves, safety glasses, chemical splash goggles, tyvex suits, and dust masks. Training in the maintenance, fit and use of PPE and the various types will be reviewed.
Most Companies have established a Hearing Conservation Program designed to maintain effective control over the harmful effects of excessive noise on employees. The class will discuss medical monitoring and cover training in the use of personal protective equipment designed to limit the excessive noise that may create harmful injury to employees.
Confined Space Training
Confined spaces are areas that have openings large enough and so configured that an employee can bodily enter and perform assigned work; has limited or restricted means for entry or exit; and is not designed for continuous employee occupancy. Training is required for all employees who may work in a confined space. The training includes recognition of potentially harmful atmospheres, the physical hazards associated with these spaces and proper entry permits. It will also cover the duties of Authorized Entrants, Attendants (Hole Watch) and Entry Supervisors.
This course provides for information on procedures for employees who maintain any electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other energy systems, which could unexpectedly start up and cause injury. Authorized employees will isolate and lock and tag the equipment to warn others that maintenance is occurring and equipment cannot be operated.
HAZWOPER (40 Hour, 24 Hour)
Any employee who may be involved in a clean up of hazardous substances or materials, performs work at a permitted Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility (TSDF), or responds to an emergency clean up of hazardous substances or materials, must have had HAZWOPER training. Depending on what duties they might have will depend on the training requirements. The basic course covers: regulation review, hazard recognition, toxicology, personal protective equipment, air monitoring equipment, fire protection, work procedures, site operations, site safety plans, medical surveillance, decontamination and site control. Topics also covered include how to prevent spills, including proper storage, handling and inspection of containers.
HAZWOPER (8 Hour Refresher)
All HAZWOPER trained workers are required to successfully complete an annual refresher. The refresher includes: regulation review, hazard recognition, toxicology, personal protective equipment, air monitoring equipment, fire protection, work procedures, site operations, site safety plans, medical surveillance, decontamination and site control. Topics also covered include how to prevent spills, including proper storage, handling and inspection of containers.
Scaffolding: User & Competent Person
This class meets the OSHA 29 CFR 1926.454 scaffold user training requirements. The class will increase the awareness level of those persons whom work on scaffolding. Employees will be instructed on the basic erection and dismantling process, nature of electrical hazards, fall hazards and falling object hazards, basic fall protection systems, proper handling of materials on scaffolding, and maximum intended loads and the load-carrying capacities for scaffolding
Scaffold For The Competent/Qualified Person (Frame Scaffolding, Rolling Scaffolds, Tube & Clamp Scaffolds, System Scaffolds)
A full-day course designed to help employees achieve "Competent Person" status*. Recommended for anyone erecting or dismantling scaffolding. Class will cover basic safety principals on hands-on scaffold erection. Participants will be given an extensive work book. This covers worksite placement, proper erection, and inspection.
Scaffold For The Competent/Qualified Person (Mobile/Rolling Scaffolds)
A half day course designed to help employees achieve "Competent Person" status*. Recommended for anyone erecting or dismantling Mobile/Rolling scaffolding. Class will cover basic safety principals on hands-on scaffold erection. Participants will be given an extensive work book. This covers worksite placement, proper erection, and inspection.
* Please Note - Per OSHA requirements, only the employer may "certify" an employee as a Competent or Qualified Person. These classes are designed to give students the information and training so as to have basic knowledge needed to be considered as Qualified or Competent.
Basic Fall Protection
This class is designed to aid employers in instructing those working with fall protection and includes basic requirements. The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards. The class will cover fall protection solutions, demonstrating available gear, proper harness use and basic rescue planning.
Fall Protection Inspection & Maintenance
This class will cover subjects as outlined in Basic Fall Protection and include Inspection & Maintenance. This class is designed to provide workers with necessary training about inspecting fall protection equipment and what would be unacceptable to use.
Forklift Training (Industrial)
Forklift certification is required every 3 years for employees who operate forklifts as part of their job duties. Training includes the potential hazards associated with forklifts and hand-on operation of the forklift. Taught in 3 - 5 hour segments (number of attendees and types of lifts used will influence time) Course will cover basic operating instructions along with safety rules and regulations. Attendees will have hands-on operator evaluation/instruction following the successful completion of a written test. Access to equipment will be necessary for hands-on instruction
Forklift Training (Construction - RTFL - "Gradall" style)
Forklift certification is required every 3 years for employees who operate forklifts as part of their job duties. Training includes the potential hazards associated with forklifts and hand-on operation of the forklift. Taught in 3 - 5 hour segments (number of attendees and types of lifts used will influence time) Course will cover basic operating instructions along with safety rules and regulations. Attendees will have hands-on operator evaluation/instruction following the successful completion of a written test. Access to equipment will be necessary for hands-on instruction.
Aerial Lift Equipment User
This class is designed for employees who operator hydraulic lifts. Course designed to help employees become safe operators. Class is specific to the type of lifts you may use (Boom Lift, Scissor Lift, Bucket Truck). This course is recommended for anyone working on or around the various types of lifts. Access to equipment will be necessary for hands-on instruction
Monthly Retainer Services Injury & Illness Prevention
A monthly retainer contract in which we provide a client with all offered services at a reduced rate in exchange for an agreed upon number of hours and fee. As a retainer customer, a client can essentially consider Proactive Safety & Training Management, LLC to be "on call" and available to provide services such as:
- Edit & revise existing Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and safety manual
- Train employees in companies IIPP & safety policies
- Conduct on-site respiratory protection training and qualitative/quantitative fit testing
- Provide on –site safety training as needed i.e. Forklift, boomlift, scissors lift, bobcat, backhoe, scaffolding, etc
- Provide random worksite safety audits
- Conduct on-site Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Assist company management with accident investigation
- Serve as companies on-call safety representative during audits/inspections
